Marcus Benesch was a high school athlete playing football and basketball at Kearney Catholic alongside good friend and teammate Matt Masker. Matt went on to play football at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. During the offseason, Matt runs Masker Football Academy where he found it frustrating to manage camp enrollment and payment using the traditional method of paper forms and checks. Marcus, a Scott Scholar from UNO with degrees in both computer science and cybersecurity, built a better solution with his co-founder, Guy Richard.

Summer Athletes simplifies the camp enrollment process for the coaches and the parents by providing a simple, web-based interface to submit camper detail and payment. No forms, no checks. Additionally, communication is simplified with automatic data collection and functionality allowing for coaches to message all campers at once.

Guy and Marcus have a history of being business partners as the two of them founded a computer repair business together back during their sophomore year of high school. Guy went to the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, graduating with honors receiving a degree in Computer Software Engineering and a license in Cyber Security in Software Engineering.
